Kiwanis Scholarships
|
Two separate Funds were established in 2002 to provide scholarships
to promising area students. The Dr. C.B. Mills Memorial-Kiwanis College Scholarship Fund benefits a Marysville
High School student, while the Sargent V. Chamberlain-Kiwanis College Scholarship Fund benefits a student from
Fairbanks High School.
These awards are based on qualities such as character, industriousness,
class rank, perseverance, need, and integrity. These scholarships are one of the many ways the Kiwanis Club supports
and contributes to charitable causes in Union County.

The Pat Conlon Scholarship for MHS Students was established by
her adult children in honor of their mother and long-time Marysville resident, Pat Conlon. Pat worked as a teacher
at Marysville East Elementary School for many years and was well-known in the community for her love of family,
faith and friends.
The scholarship is awarded in Pat Conlon’s honor and memory to recognize students that exemplify the qualities
she modeled and espoused – strong character, academic achievement, leadership, and school and community involvement.

Ohio Institute of Health Careers

Established
in July of 1999, Charles Green’s widow Marjorie, and his family members initiated this scholarship Fund. The Fund’s
goal is to support and award a Marysville High School senior each year who will enroll in agricultural, technical,
or a vocational field. Other considerations include need, academic achievement, and citizenship.
Great was the love Charles’ children had for their father. The Green adult
children; David, Marcia Welch, and Melissa Lamb, encouraged this Fund so that the memory of their beloved father
may live on in the lives of students who possess many of the same talents and aptitudes that he was blessed with.
Charles was a dairy, livestock, and grain farmer for more than 50 years in the Route 4 Blues Creek Road area of
Marysville. He could repair most mechanical items and fabricate tools to accomplish quality work efficiently. He
used his skills to solve many problems as well as help others solve their challenges. Mr. Green’s character and
work ethic are traits worthy of our youth modeling. |
Burnside/Imbody/Fish
|
This Scholarship is made possible through the kindness and generosity
of Sara Mae Burnside and Kathleen Imbody. These women directed significant gifts from their estates to fund annually
awarded scholarships to deserving North Union High School graduating seniors.
The 2006 scholarship awards totaled $15,000 and were awarded to
four outstanding North Union High School graduating seniors.
